OOFOS Recovery Footwear Product Review

After seeing so many of my running friends use OOFOS for recovery, I decided to reach out to them and see what the hype was all about. I received a pair of the women’s original sports sandals from OOFOS with a nice note. Right out of the box, they felt great! According to their website, “The OOfoam footbed provides impact absorption, superior arch support, and unbelievable comfort.” I did notice the arch support right away having high arches myself. It felt a little different, but I quickly got used to it, and then didn’t even notice it.

“Unlike flip-flops, the OOFOS patented footbed is designed with tremendous arch support to take the pressure off of ankles, knees and hips, as well as your lower back.” I have been dealing with a lot of Achilles issues and I did notice that wearing the sandals did make my Achilles feel better. The sandals seemed to take some of the ache away.

“Biomechanically designed, OOFOS flex with both your foot and the ground. The soft, flexible OOfoam material enables your foot to articulate the way nature intended.”  Basically, your foot stays cradled in the sandal, unlike a flip-flop that stays relatively rigid and straight.  This sandal hugs your foot with every step.

“Athletic shoe foams are designed to ‘rebound’ and propel you forward. Revolutionary OOfoam does the opposite, absorbing 37% more shock with every step than traditional footwear foam.” This is apparent the minute you put them on and stand up; they just feel different. They are so comfortable to walk in, and your foot settles into the sole. There is a noticeable difference between these sandals and running shoes. I have always recovered in other athletic shoes or flip-flops, and often my feet are so sore that nothing feels good. Since I received these sandals, I wear them every day and all day long! Even right out of bed in the morning; they just feel that good.

My kids surprised me and gave me the OOmg Low Shoe for Mother’s Day, and I love them even more! The four-way stretch mesh upper hugs your foot without being tight and allows your foot to breathe. No smelly sweaty feet due to the closed cell foam that minimizes odor and is machine washable. I have the black upper with white sole so they go with everything.  If I had to choose the sandal or the low shoe, I would go with the low shoe. They fit more comfortably and are much cuter than the sandals.

The only downside, they are expensive. They’re about the same price as my running shoes, but if I can get more wear out of them than my running shoes, then it will be well worth it!
